President Donald Trump opposed an Israeli plan to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, CBS News reported Sunday, citing three U.S. officials.

According to one official, Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the plan was unwise after Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran last week.

Reuters first reported the rejection. A senior U.S. official said no direct U.S.-Iran contact has occurred, though Israeli officials confirmed frequent U.S.-Israel communications.

Netanyahu, during a Fox News interview, declined to confirm or deny the report, saying, “There’s so many false reports of conversations that never happened and I’m not going to get into that… We will do what we need to do.”

Trump warned Iran on Truth Social: “If we are attacked… the full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you.”

He added, “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal,” citing his conflict-resolution record.
