Trump praised FBI Director Kash Patel for leading the rapid investigation that resulted in the capture of Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin within 33 hours.
President Trump on Saturday praised FBI Director Kash Patel for what he described as the bureau’s “remarkable speed” in capturing Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin.
Tyler Robinson, 22, was arrested in Washington, Utah, just 33 hours after Kirk was shot from a rooftop on the campus of Utah Valley University. Authorities said Robinson scouted the area on Sept. 10, returned later that morning, and fired the fatal shot at 12:23 p.m. before fleeing into nearby woods where the weapon was later found.
“I am very proud of the FBI,” Trump told Fox News Digital. “Kash—and everyone else—they have done a great job.”
Officials revealed that Patel personally pushed for releasing surveillance footage of the suspect, a move that led Robinson’s father to identify him and turn him in. Patel arrived at the scene the evening after the shooting and played a direct role in the investigation, according to law enforcement sources.
