The US Justice Department has confirmed an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged links to major banks and prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, following document releases and calls from President Trump.

The US Justice Department has confirmed it will investigate alleged links between convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein and major banks as well as prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton, according to BBC.

On Friday, President Donald Trump said he would ask Attorney General Pam Bondi and the FBI to probe Epstein’s “involvement and relationship” with Clinton and others “to determine what was going on with them, and him.” Bondi later posted that US Attorney Jay Clayton would lead the inquiry, adding that the department “will pursue this with urgency and integrity to deliver answers to the American people.” Clinton has strongly denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.

Trump also called for investigations into JPMorgan Chase and JP Morgan, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, alleging connections to Epstein. A JPMorgan Chase spokesperson said the firm regrets “any association” but added it “did not help him commit his heinous acts.”

The renewed scrutiny followed the release of over 20,000 pages of Epstein estate documents by US lawmakers, including emails involving Summers, Epstein, and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking.

House members have moved to vote on the full release of DOJ files related to Epstein, with both Democratic and Republican lawmakers backing the measure. Survivors of Epstein, including Virginia Giuffre, have urged lawmakers to approve the release to ensure accountability.
