Donald Trump privately questioned whether Elon Musk’s recent behavior was drug-related, even as he publicly dismissed concerns — the latest twist in their dramatic political fallout.
President Donald Trump has privately asked aides whether Elon Musk’s recent behavior could be linked to alleged drug use, a source told CNN. This comes amid a sudden feud between the two, days after Musk received a ceremonial Oval Office sendoff.
Publicly, Trump told CNN’s Dana Bash, “I’m not even thinking about Elon,” while declining to comment on Musk’s drug use. “I don’t know — I don’t know what his status is,” he told reporters on Air Force One, calling New York Times reporting on Musk “very unfair.”
Musk has faced scrutiny after The Times reported he used ketamine “often, sometimes daily,” mixed with other drugs. In 2024, Musk told Don Lemon he used “a small amount” of ketamine under prescription.
Trump has floated canceling Musk’s government contracts and was reportedly angered by Musk linking him to Jeffrey Epstein without evidence. Allies like Steve Bannon have urged investigations, but others — including Speaker Mike Johnson — hope the rift can be repaired.
