Donald Trump is “seriously considering” a full presidential pardon for Sean “Diddy” Combs, convicted in a federal sex trafficking trial earlier this month, sources say. The White House remains silent.
Donald Trump is “seriously considering” a presidential pardon for Sean “Diddy” Combs ahead of his October 3 sentencing, according to sources close to the administration. The music mogul was found partially guilty earlier this month in a New York sex trafficking trial, escaping the most severe charges but still facing up to three years in federal prison.
White House officials declined to comment on any clemency request, stating, “The White House will not comment on the existence or nonexistence of any clemency request.”
Combs has repeatedly been denied a $50 million bond and remains in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. Despite past criticism of Trump, Combs has longstanding ties with him, and the former president once called him a “good friend.”
Trump previously said he would “certainly look at the facts” if he believed someone was mistreated. The matter remains in flux until the president signs any official order. Combs’ legal team has not participated in pardon discussions and offered “no comment” on the matter.
