President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he might consider deporting billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, following the tech mogul’s recent criticism of Trump’s tax and spending policies.

“I don’t know,” Trump said when asked by reporters at the White House if he would deport Musk, who was born in South Africa and later became a U.S. citizen. “We’ll have to take a look,” he added.

The comments mark a shift in Trump’s tone toward Musk, once a vocal supporter of the former president. Musk has recently taken aim at Trump’s signature economic legislation, positioning himself as a high-profile critic of the administration’s fiscal strategy.

While Trump did not confirm any formal action, his remarks come amid broader political tensions between the administration and former allies in the business world. Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has yet to publicly respond to Trump’s statement.
