“It’s that face. It’s that brain. It’s those lips, the way they move. They move like she’s a machine gun,” Trump said.
Former President Donald Trump, 79, is facing backlash after making personal remarks about White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, 27, during a Newsmax interview aired Friday night.
“It’s that face. It’s that brain. It’s those lips, the way they move. They move like she’s a machine gun,” Trump said, praising Leavitt’s communication skills. He added, “She’s great. She’s a great person, actually. I don’t think anybody has ever had a better press secretary than Karoline. She’s been amazing.”
Leavitt, appointed by Trump in 2024, is the youngest person to hold the press secretary role. Her tenure has been marked by loyal defense of Trump’s presidency and headline-making statements, including her assertion that it is “well past time” for Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Trump’s comments have drawn criticism online, with observers calling them inappropriate given their tone and the age gap between the two.
Leavitt recently married real estate developer Nicholas Riccio, 59, shortly before Trump’s second inauguration in January.
Trump’s 20-minute interview also touched on other cultural controversies, including his criticism of advertising campaigns featuring transgender actress Dylan Mulvaney, which he called “perhaps the most unsuccessful ad in history.”
