President Donald Trump will pay a second state visit to the United Kingdom from September 17 to 19, hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the visit, which follows a personal invite from the King delivered by Prime Minister Keir Starmer in February.
“It’s a great, great honor,” Trump said, calling Charles “a beautiful man” and expressing eagerness to honor “your country.”
This marks a rare second state visit for a U.S. president, as second-term leaders are typically invited only for informal engagements. Trump previously visited in 2018 and 2019. His 2019 visit, the official state visit, drew major protests.
Protesters flew the now-famous “Baby Trump” balloon, while London Mayor Sadiq Khan clashed publicly with the president. Trump responded, “Sadiq Khan… is a stone cold loser.”
The activist group Stop Trump Coalition has pledged new demonstrations, stating, “We will meet any Trump visit with massive protests… The British people are united in their outrage at this state visit.”
