Dr. Tunde Bakare has ruled out joining the African Democratic Congress despite pressure from political stakeholders, insisting on his loyalty to the APC and describing President Bola Tinubu’s rise as divinely ordained.
Founder of Citadel Global Community Church, Dr. Tunde Bakare, says he has no intention of joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) despite mounting pressure from political stakeholders.
Speaking on Saturday at the maiden Citadel School of Governance Dialogue Series tagged “Nigeria at 65: Historical Reflections, Futuristic Projection” in Oregun, Lagos, Bakare disclosed that several politicians, including a former South-West governor and minister, had urged him to align with the party.
“There has been a lot of pressure on me from who is who to join ADC. They come to my home. Even while I was abroad, the hierarchy of that party kept calling, saying they needed my voice,” he said.
Bakare, however, dismissed the possibility, declaring: “I am not going to take part in ADC. The last time I knew about ADC was about a plane that crashed. You don’t birth a child called APC and then try to kill it yourself.”
He added that President Bola Tinubu’s emergence was backed by divine providence, saying: “If God wants to remove ‘emilokan,’ He knows how to do it.”
Guest speaker Prof. Akinjide Osuntokun identified corruption and tribalism as Nigeria’s greatest challenges, warning that leadership must transcend ethnicity to deliver development.
