TVC News has debuted AI anchors delivering news in five Nigerian languages, aiming to expand access and modernize its newsroom.
TVC News has launched Nigeria’s first AI-powered news anchors capable of delivering bulletins in five major local languages: English, Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and Pidgin. The initiative, part of a broader modernization effort by TVC Communications, aims to expand the broadcaster’s reach across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones and better serve diverse audiences.
“This pioneering innovation represents a significant milestone in the broadcasting history of Nigeria,” the company said in a statement.
TVC Communications emphasized that the AI anchors will not replace human journalists but will work alongside them to enhance news delivery and digital reach. To maintain content integrity, all AI-generated news will be reviewed by human editors and adhere to the Nigerian Broadcasting Code.
“Our AI news anchors will enable us to take our news coverage to the next level,” said Victoria Ajayi, CEO of TVC Communications.
The rollout reflects a broader trend in African media toward automation and linguistic inclusion.
