Nigerian troops have repelled coordinated terrorist attacks in Buratai, Biu LGA, and Mallam Fatori, Abadam LGA of Borno State. The attacks occurred Thursday morning.

Captain Reuben Kovangiya, spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the incident, stating that the insurgents were subdued by “gallant Nigerian troops.”

Troops recovered lifeless bodies of terrorists and “assorted arms and ammunition.” In Mallam Fatori, Boko Haram insurgents attacked from multiple fronts but were repelled.

“The alert troops foiled the attack, forcing the insurgents to flee,” Kovangiya said. With air support, troops pursued the fleeing terrorists for hours.

“Many insurgents fell in the confrontation, while the survivors suffered gunshot wounds,” he added.

Recovered weapons include AK-47 rifles, General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG), Rocket Propelled Guns (RPG), and other equipment.

Kovangiya noted ongoing clearance operations, supported by the Air Component and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Command.

“The repulsion of these attacks represents a victory for the Nigerian military in its fight against insurgency,” he said.
