Two 13-year-old boys were injured and one left in critical condition after a violent alleged robbery on a Melbourne trail.
Two 13-year-old boys were left injured and traumatised after a violent attack during an alleged robbery on the Koonung Creek Trail in Doncaster East, according to a report from the DAILY MAIL. The incident occurred shortly after 5pm on Monday as the pair rode their electric motorcycles along the popular walking track.
Victoria Police allege the boys were approached by two unknown males who suddenly launched a brutal assault. One of the teens was attacked and had his e-bike stolen but managed to escape on foot, sustaining minor injuries that did not require treatment.
The second boy attempted to flee on his e-bike but crashed into a wall near the Blackburn Road underpass. He suffered skull fractures, a broken nose and a broken leg before the alleged offenders caught up with him, stole his motorcycle and fled east along the trail.
“He’s still in quite a serious condition, so much so that we haven’t been able to speak to him personally to see what he remembers,” Senior Constable Liam Webb told 9News. He described the offenders’ actions as “quite deplorable” and “quite disgusting.”
Detectives from the Manningham Crime Investigation Unit are searching for two suspects believed to be around 15 years old, both Caucasian, about 165cm tall, and wearing black ski masks. Police have released images of the stolen motorcycles and urged anyone with information or footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
