“The seizures at the ports followed intelligence and tracking of new trafficking routes.”

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two British nationals and three Nigerians for attempting to smuggle 92 bags of Loud cannabis weighing 51.10kg through Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).

The suspects—Mhizha Jordan Alexander Tatendra, Ayedipe Andrew Adejuwon, Shonowo Oluwaseun Imole, and Ofuoma Omokaro Ayobami—were caught after intelligence-led surveillance, with the drugs found in a vehicle waiting at the airport. Alexander confessed he was promised £1,300 for the delivery. A subsequent raid on Adejuwon’s Lekki apartment yielded cash and drug paraphernalia.

Separately, NDLEA intercepted six million opioid pills and over 332,000 bottles of codeine syrup worth N6.52 billion at Port Harcourt and Apapa ports following intelligence on new trafficking routes.

Additional seizures include 75,000kg of skunk cannabis destroyed in Cross River, Edo, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Bauchi, Yobe, Niger, and Lagos states, with multiple arrests made during raids and patrols across the country.
