Thousands protested across the U.S. Saturday against President Donald Trump’s policies, coinciding with his 79th birthday and a rare military parade.

The demonstrations, organized by the “No Kings” movement, occurred in over 1,500 cities, including New York and Los Angeles, where opposition grew over Trump’s deployment of troops.

“I’m here because the things that are happening in this administration are very disturbing,” said protester Sarah Hargrave.

The day was overshadowed by the fatal shooting of a Democratic lawmaker and her husband in Minnesota, prompting state authorities to discourage protests. Trump condemned the attack, calling it “targeted.”

Meanwhile, his $45 million parade featured tanks, helicopters, and 7,000 troops. “This is a big day for America!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

California Governor Gavin Newsom called it a “vulgar display of weakness,” adding, “To fete the Dear Leader on his birthday? What an embarrassment.”

A poll showed 64% of Americans oppose public funding for the parade.
