Nigeria’s Flying Eagles drew 1-1 with Colombia to advance to the U20 World Cup Round of 16, where they face Argentina.

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles booked their place in the Round of 16 of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile after a 1-1 draw with Colombia in Talca on Monday.

Goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt pulled off key saves early in the game, while Nigeria threatened through Tahir Maigana, Kparobo Arierhi and Suleman Sani. Colombia broke the deadlock in the 51st minute when Kener Gonzalez converted from a Neyser Villareal assist.

The Flying Eagles fought back, and with four minutes left, captain Daniel Bameyi equalised from the penalty spot after a handball in the box. Nigeria nearly snatched victory, but Arierhi’s late strike was blocked.

The result sets up a Round of 16 clash with Argentina in Santiago on Wednesday.
