Dr Suhail Anjum admitted leaving a patient under anaesthetic to have sex with a nurse at Tameside Hospital, calling his conduct “shameful.”
A UK medical tribunal has heard that Dr Suhail Anjum, a consultant anaesthetist, left a patient under anaesthetic to have sex with a nurse at Tameside Hospital, Greater Manchester.
He claimed to need a “comfort break” and asked a colleague to monitor the patient, but was later discovered in a “compromising position” with Nurse C.
Andrew Molloy, representing the GMC, confirmed that no harm came to the patient and the procedure continued without incident.
Dr Anjum admitted the allegations, describing his behaviour as “shameful.” He told the tribunal: “I only have myself to blame” and offered “sincere apologies,” adding the incident followed a “stressful time” for his family.
The hearing continues Friday.
