The next Immigration White Paper will lay out a comprehensive plan to restore order to our broken immigration system.
The UK government has announced plans for stricter visa controls targeting nationals from Pakistan, Nigeria, and Sri Lanka. The Home Office highlighted concerns over individuals overstaying their visas and applying for asylum. This new policy aims to reduce abuse of the immigration system.
A spokesperson said, “To tackle abuse by foreign nationals who arrive on work and study visas and go on to claim asylum, we are building intelligence on the profile of these individuals to identify them earlier and faster.” As a result, visa applicants from these countries may face harsher scrutiny when applying for work or study visas. The Immigration White Paper, detailing further plans, will be published later in May.
