Police and UNILAG’s safeguarding team are probing a lecturer over alleged rape of a 300-level student.
A senior lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr Samuel Ojogbo, is under investigation for allegedly raping a 20-year-old student. The 300-level student claimed the lecturer invited her to his office on August 22, 2025, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her around noon.
She reported the incident to the police on August 28 and received medical attention at a hospital. UNILAG confirmed the allegation and disclosed that its Safeguarding Centre is supporting the student.
Spokesperson Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem said: “A panel constituted by the university to investigate the matter has commenced investigation. Findings will be made public upon completion.”
The university reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment and promised appropriate action after the probe.
