US Congressman Riley M. Moore met with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and other senior Nigerian officials in Washington, saying religious violence and terrorism in Nigeria “must stop”.
US Congressman Riley M. Moore met with National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and a high-level Nigerian delegation in Washington to discuss rising religious violence and terrorism in Nigeria, according to a report from PUNCH.
In a statement shared on X, Moore described the engagement as “frank, honest, and productive,” stressing that the U.S. expects “tangible steps to ensure that Christians are not subject to violence, persecution, displacement, and death simply for believing in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
He reaffirmed America’s readiness to support Nigeria against Boko Haram, ISWAP and Fulani militants, noting, “We stand ready to work cooperatively with the Nigerians.”
Moore also urged the Nigerian government to strengthen ties with Washington, saying President Trump and Congress are “serious in our resolve to end the violence against Christians.”
The meeting occurred hours before a U.S. congressional hearing on Nigeria’s redesignation as a Country of Particular Concern, where senior U.S. officials and Nigerian religious leaders are expected to testify.
