Fabian Adibe, the legendary Nollywood actor famous for his role in ‘Things Fall Apart’, has passed away at 82.
Fabian Adibe, legendary Nollywood actor and star of the iconic Things Fall Apart, has died at the age of 82.
His death was confirmed by Seun Oloketuyi, CEO of Best of Nollywood, in a social media post.
“‘Things Fall Apart’ actor Fabian Adibe is dead. He passed away at 2:30 a.m. this morning,” Oloketuyi announced.
Born in Owerri on December 1, 1943, Adibe studied Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan and began his acting journey at Nigeria’s first Commonwealth Arts Festival in 1965. He became a household name in 1987 for his role as Ogbuefi Uzowulu in the NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart.
Over his career, he featured in classics like Living in Bondage and Hollywood’s Mr Johnson. In later years, he withdrew from Nollywood, citing poor pay and neglect of veterans.
He is survived by his wife and four children, including actress Chioma Adibe.
