Secretary of State Marco Rubio has declared that foreign nationals who publicly celebrate the assassination of Charlie Kirk will have their visas revoked and should “prepare to be deported.”

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced that visa revocations are “already underway” for foreign nationals who publicly celebrate the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist killed on September 10. Rubio said via a post on X that “America will not host foreigners who celebrate the death of our fellow citizens.”

He added: “If you are here on a visa and cheering on the public assassination of a political figure, prepare to be deported. You are not welcome in this country.” Rubio also spoke in a Fox News interview, saying that visa holders should be held to “a very high” behavior standard, and that those already in the U.S. who violate it should have visas revoked.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau joined Rubio in condemning the online praise of Kirk’s killing by foreigners, saying that social media users “praising, rationalizing, or making light of the event” have come to his attention, and that consular officials are being directed to take “appropriate action.”
