Finance Minister Wale Edun reportedly collapsed after learning his name appeared on a “kill list” allegedly compiled by detained coup plot suspects.
Fresh details have emerged regarding the sudden illness of Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, who reportedly fell ill on the eve of his scheduled trip to Washington, D.C., for the World Bank Fall Meetings.
Multiple sources told SaharaReporters that the minister’s collapse was not caused by health issues alone but was triggered by a disturbing security revelation. “Minister of Finance Edun collapsed when told he was number 4 on the kill list of alleged coup plotters,” one top source said.
According to insiders, the “kill list” was allegedly prepared by a group of military officers accused of planning to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration in a “violent takeover plan.”
“Edun collapsed upon being shown a kill list purportedly prepared by a group of military officers who reportedly were planning to overthrow President Tinubu’s regime,” another source said.
After initial denials by the government, Edun was later seen in London, where he was said to be receiving medical attention.
Two weeks ago, the minister confirmed travelling to the UK for treatment after SaharaReporters revealed he had been flown abroad for urgent care. A government source had earlier described his condition as “very serious.”
