Other suspects – Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, Seyi Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim – remain at large.

Adefowora Abiodun, one of six individuals declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over a $1 billion cryptocurrency fraud, surrendered to the agency in Abuja on Monday.

The suspect, linked to the now-scrutinized Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), appeared at the EFCC headquarters around 4:00 p.m. with his legal team.

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court had on Thursday approved the EFCC’s request to arrest and detain Abiodun and five others pending investigation.

“I am satisfied that the application is meritorious and hereby grant it as prayed,” the judge ruled.

The EFCC accuses the suspects of running a fraudulent investment scheme. Abiodun’s lawyer, Babatunde Busari, said his client turned himself in “to clear his name and correct the false narrative being widely circulated in the media.”

Other suspects – Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, Seyi Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim – remain at large.
