Hotel cites ‘internal compliance matter’ for last-minute decision.

Management of Wells Carlton Hotel and Apartments in Asokoro, Abuja, has abruptly cancelled its booking for the unveiling of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by the National Coalition of Political Opposition Movement, scheduled for Wednesday. The cancellation came less than 24 hours before the event, which was to feature leaders including former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

In a statement, the hotel cited “an internal compliance matter” for the decision and issued an apology:

“We are fully aware that the event is less than 24 hours away, and we deeply apologise for the timing and inconvenience this may cause.”

Organisers confirmed they have secured an alternative venue. The coalition, led by Atiku and Obi, plans to adopt the ADC as its electoral platform amid concerns that the Independent National Electoral Commission may miss deadlines for registering the All Democratic Alliance, the party originally intended to be used.
