“If I should mention the number of Boko Haram members we have arrested in Lagos State, people will not believe it. But we have arrested thousands,” Kumar said.

The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Lagos has arrested hundreds of suspected Boko Haram members across the state, Commander Kumar Sanda disclosed Wednesday. Speaking at an award ceremony, Sanda revealed the group’s surveillance operations target trailer parks, quarries, and markets—key entry points for northern migrants. “If I mention the number…people won’t believe it. We’ve arrested thousands,” he stated while receiving the Best Security Group award.

The CJTF commander affirmed their mandate to prevent Lagos from becoming a haven for fleeing insurgents, urging vigilance: “Not all Abokis are bad, but not all are good.” The arrests come amid intensified military operations against terrorism in northern Nigeria, with security forces intercepting suspects attempting to blend into Lagos’ population.
