Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has demanded a full military investigation after troops withdrew from a girls’ school less than an hour before bandits abducted dozens of students despite the state providing prior intelligence alerts.

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has questioned the military over the withdrawal of troops from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, less than an hour before armed attackers abducted dozens of schoolgirls in Danko-Wasagu LGA.

Speaking during a visit by NLC President Joe Ajaero, Idris said he was “deeply troubled” that security operatives left the school around 3am despite the state having issued intelligence warnings, asking, “So, who gave the order for troops to withdraw at that critical hour?” He insisted on a full investigation, noting the action contradicted assurances of strengthened protection for high-risk border communities. Ajaero expressed solidarity with the state and the victims’ families, urging federal agencies to secure the girls’ release, as the incident adds to a series of escalating attacks on schools in Nigeria’s North-West.
