Cleric stresses independence from public funds to retain ‘prophetic mandate’

Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has revealed why he rejected a N30 million donation from Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, during a recent crusade in the state.

Speaking during a Sunday sermon in Abuja, Enenche said the decision aligns with his long-held policy of maintaining ministry independence from government funding and political influence.

“For some people, that may be a surprise because they don’t know who we are. But those who know us, that’s no surprise at all,” he stated.

He recounted past instances where he declined honorariums, including a 2014 pilgrimage with former President Goodluck Jonathan, where he paid his own expenses.

“Government funds are not in this project, not one naira,” he said, referring to the church’s headquarters.

The pastor also turned down gifts from former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom and a childhood friend turned minister.

“I don’t want to touch any dime of government money,” Enenche said, emphasizing his desire to “remain uncompromised.”
