Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, says Bosun Tijani, minister of communications, innovation, and digital economy, will retain his position if the coalition defeats President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Former Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai disclosed at the Arewa Tech Fest in Katsina that Communications Minister Bosun Tijani would retain his position if their opposition coalition unseats President Bola Tinubu in 2027. “We will still keep Bosun Tijani because he is doing good work,” el-Rufai stated, citing the minister’s performance as justification.
El-Rufai arrived late to the event, explaining he attended a crucial 8pm coalition meeting the previous night to strategize Tinubu’s defeat. “There was a very important meeting of the coalition we’re putting together to ensure that President Tinubu goes back to Lagos,” he told attendees, referencing his delayed travel due to Katsina airport’s curfew.
The ex-APC governor, who defected to SDP in March, is mobilizing opposition parties against Tinubu. His remarks at the tech summit confirm ongoing coalition-building efforts while endorsing Tijani’s ministerial work. The disclosure comes amid heightened political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
