PDP says Nyesom Wike has not faced sanctions because no formal petition with evidence has been filed against him.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clarified why former Rivers State governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has not been sanctioned for alleged anti-party activities.
Deputy National Legal Adviser, Barrister Okechukwu Osuoha, said in Abuja that no member can be disciplined without a formal petition supported by evidence. He explained that although a disciplinary committee chaired by Chief Tom Ikimi with Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as secretary has been set up, no petitions have been submitted.
“At our NEC meeting, we set up a disciplinary committee headed by Chief Tom Ikimi, an elder statesman, with Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as secretary. They were mandated to address any infraction or anti-party activity… But up until today, no one has been prosecuted or sanctioned,” he said.
Osuoha stressed that petitioners must testify and provide evidence, adding that difficulties in pursuing disciplinary cases were part of broader governance challenges in Nigeria.
