PDP says Wike cannot be punished for anti-party activities without a formal petition and evidence.
The Peoples Democratic Party has said it cannot sanction the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over alleged anti-party activities without a formal petition backed by evidence.
The party’s Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha, clarified in Abuja on Monday that although a disciplinary committee headed by Chief Tom Ikimi with Eyitayo Jegede as secretary has been set up, no member has faced sanctions so far.
“People often ask me specifically about the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike — why don’t we discipline him? Why don’t we take action? I tell them: It is not enough to merely say someone has committed an offence,” Osuoha stated.
He stressed that complainants must file a petition and be ready to testify with evidence. Osuoha added that the issue mirrors Nigeria’s broader legal and political enforcement gaps.
