Wike dismissed suggestions that his role in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet compromises his standing in the opposition party.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says he will lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign in Rivers State during the 2027 elections, reaffirming his loyalty despite accusations of betrayal.
“I am still in PDP. I worked hard for the party,” Wike said Monday during a media chat in Abuja. “In fact, I’ll lead the PDP campaign in Rivers by 2027.”
Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, dismissed suggestions that his role in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet compromises his standing in the opposition party.
He insisted his performance in the FCT proves his commitment to good governance. “I take joy when I step on the toes of big men… It makes me happy,” he said.
Addressing the political tension in Rivers State, Wike denied any rift with Governor Siminalayi Fubara. “If Mr. President had called me that time, I wouldn’t have agreed on a state of emergency,” he added.
