Former Rivers State governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has claimed he was instrumental in the emergence of Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State.
Speaking during a live media chat, Wike said, “I made Diri governor. Without me, he wouldn’t have been there.”
He noted that his political influence and support were crucial during the post-election legal battles that led to Diri’s eventual swearing-in. Wike’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about political alliances and influence ahead of the 2027 elections.
