FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of betrayal, alleging he is responsible for turning members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against him.
In a Sunday statement, Wike blamed the party’s prolonged crisis on dishonesty among stakeholders. “I made it clear to Governor Makinde that he was the architect of our problems,” Wike said, referencing a G5 meeting in Lagos.
He also faulted Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed for violating agreements made during a wider stakeholders’ meeting, which led to the formation of a reconciliation committee chaired by former Senate President Bukola Saraki.
Wike alleged that Makinde, along with Enugu Governor Peter Mbah, pushed for Ude Okoye to become PDP secretary and attempted to override an agreement by backing the deputy secretary to act as secretary.
He said INEC declined to attend the May 24 zonal congress due to an improperly signed invitation.
Declaring his withdrawal from all previous agreements, Wike lamented, “I contributed to their election victories, yet made no personal demands. I’ve now decided to fight on until justice is attained.”
