Wike said, “If I were his son, I would sit him down and ask: ‘Dad, how can you keep hopping from one party to another at almost 80 years old?’”
ABUJA — Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his frequent party defections, calling them a product of desperation for the presidency.
Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike said, “If I were his son, I would sit him down and ask: ‘Dad, how can you keep hopping from one party to another at almost 80 years old?’”
He traced Atiku’s movements from PDP to AC, back to PDP, then to APC, and again to PDP, before the latest switch to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“The way the PDP is now, it is not likely that Atiku would get a ticket… Therefore, he tells you, ‘let’s do a coalition against Tinubu.’ It’s not right,” Wike said.
He dismissed the coalition as a strategy for political survival, not national interest.
