FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says he feels betrayed by suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara, whom he accuses of working with political enemies.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has accused suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara of betrayal, claiming he aligned with individuals bent on undermining him. Speaking during a media chat on Monday, Wike said Fubara became “a tool” in the hands of his adversaries despite his support for Fubara’s rise to power.
“This is somebody who brought you, gave you food and everything. Then you became a tool for his enemies to fight him,” Wike said. “Sometimes, when I go back in my quiet moment, I play the video of the speeches of the governor — what he said and did to me, I weep.”
Wike compared the situation to a son plotting with armed robbers to attack his father, saying reconciliation is possible only if Fubara seeks “genuine peace.”
The rift has fueled a political crisis in Rivers state, prompting President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in March and suspend the governor, deputy governor, and lawmakers.
