FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says he will testify in Nnamdi Kanu’s trial if subpoenaed, clarifying he was not consulted before being listed as a witness.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he will testify in the ongoing trial of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, if subpoenaed by the court.

Wike made this known on Friday during his monthly media chat in Abuja, responding to questions about being named by Kanu as one of his witnesses.

Kanu had, in a motion filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, informed the court of his readiness to open his defence on October 24, 2025, and listed 23 witnesses, including Wike, former Defence Minister Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), and ex-Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.).

Reacting, Wike stated that he had not been served any legal notice but would obey the court if required to appear. “If you see Nnamdi Kanu, you ask him why he listed me. I did not go to him to say I want to be a witness,” he said.

He added, “Nobody has served me process; nobody has subpoenaed me. If I am served, if I am subpoenaed to come and give evidence, I must obey the court, I must appear.”
