“Kanu operated Radio Biafra illegally”…recorded broadcasts where Kanu “called for an attack on police officers” were played to him, and he admitted they were his. – Witness
A Department of State Services (DSS) official, identified as “BBB,” on Tuesday testified that Nnamdi Kanu admitted to inciting attacks on police officers during interrogation.
The DSS officer, led in evidence by federal counsel Adegboyega Awomolo before Justice James Omotosho at the Federal High Court, Abuja, described Kanu as the founder of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
“Kanu operated an illegal station, Radio Biafra,” the witness said, adding that recorded broadcasts where Kanu “called for an attack on police officers” were played to him, and he admitted they were his.
The witness said the interrogation was recorded and done in the presence of Kanu’s lawyers, including Aloy Ejimakor.
Defence lawyer Kanu Agabi objected to the prosecution’s attempt to tender documents not earlier shared, prompting the judge to adjourn until May 7.
Justice Omotosho ordered the prosecution to serve all materials to the defence.
