A Department of State Services (DSS) operative on Tuesday told the Federal High Court, Abuja, that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), admitted to inciting attacks on police officers through broadcasts on Radio Biafra.

Testifying behind a screen, the witness — identified as BBB — said Kanu acknowledged ownership of inciting audio clips played to him during interrogation on July 17, 2021.

“He called for the attack on police officers and other inciting comments,” BBB said, adding that Kanu made the statement in the presence of his lawyers.

The prosecution attempted to tender a letter from the Attorney General and a video recording of the interrogation, but defence counsel Kanu Agabi, SAN, objected, citing lack of prior disclosure.

Justice James Omotosho upheld the objection, ordered proper service of documents, and adjourned the case to May 7.

Earlier, the court cautioned against disruptions after a relative of Kanu was caught live-streaming the proceedings, resulting in her temporary ban from future sittings.
