A 27-year-old woman was stabbed at Chicago’s UIC-Halsted train station Saturday night, and police are searching for the suspect.
A 27-year-old woman was stabbed by an assailant at a Chicago train station Saturday night, in a shocking incident that comes nearly three months after Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska was killed by a pocketknife-wielding attacker on Charlotte’s light rail system.
According to NEW YORK POST, the victim was sitting on a bench at the UIC-Halsted Blue Line platform near the University of Illinois Chicago around 11:14 p.m. when the alleged attacker plunged a knife into her chest.
“The woman sustained a laceration to the chest and was taken to a local hospital for treatment,” the police said.
Following the attack, the suspect fled the scene, running north on South Morgan Street. Authorities are now actively searching for the individual, who was last seen wearing a pink beanie, gray hooded jacket, orange sweatshirt, light blue jeans, white shoes, and carrying a gray backpack.
No further details have been released about the motive or the suspect’s identity. Police have urged anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation.
The incident has renewed concerns over safety at urban transit stations, with authorities emphasizing vigilance and the importance of reporting suspicious activity promptly. The woman’s condition is currently unknown.
