Woman who accused her wife of committing the first crime in space pleads guilty after admitting to making it all up.

Summer Worden claimed in 2019 that her wife, NASA astronaut Anne McClain, tried illegally accessing her bank account from space.

At the time, McClain was on the International Space Station. This was the first allegation of a crime in space in history, as reported by the New York Times.

Worden accused McClain of guessing her password to illegally access the bank account from space.

During the investigation, however, federal investigators found out that Worden had given McClain access to the account since 2015.

The two women share a son who was born through surrogacy.

Worden now faces up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000 after pleading guilty to lying to law enforcement.
