Kano State has launched a major campaign to immunize 4.5 million children under the age of five as part of this year’s World Immunization Week. The initiative is aimed at reducing the burden of vaccine-preventable diseases and improving child health outcomes across the state.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf reaffirmed the government’s focus on maternal and child health, stating, “Health is our second priority after education. Within this sector, we are focusing on maternal and child health to prevent the avoidable loss of lives among pregnant women and their children.”

Routine immunization services, which had previously been suspended, have now been restored. The state government has also made budgetary provisions to ensure that immunization services are both accessible and sustainable.
