A deadly ambush in York County on Wednesday left four police officers dead and two others in critical condition after an active shooter opened fire on Senft Road near Haar Road in North Codorus Township.
Emergency dispatch logs show the first call came at 2:13 p.m., reporting an “officer down/signal 13,” sparking a massive response from law enforcement and EMS units. Authorities said the officers were ambushed while responding to a call, describing the gunfire as sudden and deliberate. One suspect has been confirmed dead.
The violence prompted a lockdown at York Hospital and a shelter-in-place order across the Spring Grove Area School District. Schools clarified the situation was not connected to students but safety measures were necessary while police secured the area.
Investigators are working to determine whether others were involved. Officials called the shooting one of the deadliest attacks on law enforcement in Pennsylvania’s history.
