Ukraine’s main government building in Kyiv was damaged for the first time during Russian strikes, killing four people including a baby.
Ukraine’s main government building in Kyiv was hit for the first time since the start of the war, during a wave of Russian strikes that killed at least four people, including a baby. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed the attack on the cabinet building, saying its roof and upper floors caught fire.
Officials reported heavy damage in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, Odesa, Sumy, and Chernihiv after Russia launched more than 800 drones and missiles overnight. The air force said nine missiles and 56 drones hit 37 locations.
President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strikes, calling them “a deliberate crime and an attempt to prolong the war” and urged global political will to stop Russia’s attacks.
Russia’s defence ministry claimed the strikes targeted Ukraine’s military infrastructure. Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the attacks showed Putin “believes he can act with impunity,” while France reiterated its pledge to support Ukraine with security guarantees once fighting ceases.
