A leaked letter shows President Tinubu approved plans to privatise the State House Medical Centre, sparking fears over national security risks and raising questions about government transparency.

A letter exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters has revealed President Bola Tinubu’s approval to hand over the management of the State House Medical Centre to private managers. Curiously, the letter, dated March 25, 2025, was issued on the Ministry of Education’s letterhead and signed by Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa.

Addressed to State House Permanent Secretary Temitope Peter Fashedemi, it announced the formation of a Technical Working Group (TWG) to oversee the contracting process.

“Further to the assignment given to me by Mr. President… I am pleased to convey His Excellency’s approval to commence the contracting process,” Alausa wrote.

The inauguration of the TWG is scheduled for April 29.

Meanwhile, a petition by Concerned Nigerians warned the move could threaten national security, calling it a “security and policy catastrophe.”

The petition stressed the SHMC’s strategic location within the Presidential Villa and opposed private management of federally funded assets.

N1.127 billion was allocated to the clinic in the 2025 budget.
