President Bola Tinubu on Friday inducted two Agusta A-109S Trekker attack helicopters into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fleet, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to end insecurity through advanced defence technologies. Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima at the ceremony in Abuja, Tinubu said, “We will continue to invest in cutting-edge defence technologies and provide our military with the resources needed to counter both conventional and asymmetric threats.”

The event was part of activities marking the 61st anniversary of the NAF. Tinubu assured Nigerians of continued military modernization, noting that despite budget constraints, the acquisitions reflect the government’s commitment to national security.

“I am overly confident… that the deployment of these newly acquired platforms will add impetus to the combat power of the Nigerian Air Force,” he stated.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, described the induction as a testament to government support, adding the helicopters are ideal for training, combat, and emergency response.
