A suspected vandal was electrocuted while attempting to tamper with armoured electrical cables at the Jigawa State Secretariat Complex in Dutse around 10am on Wednesday.
The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying officers responded swiftly to a distress call from the Ministry of Works.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, officers “discovered the lifeless body of an unidentified male adult under a slab containing electrical wiring.”
Preliminary investigations suggest “the deceased was electrocuted while attempting to vandalize the cables,” Adam said.
He added, “The body, which had begun to decompose, was evacuated to Dutse General Hospital for a medical examination.”
The command condemned such criminal acts, warning the public against hazardous and unlawful activities. Adam urged residents to remain vigilant and “report any suspicious persons or activities.”
He said investigations are ongoing and pledged further updates.
