“I have lost everything more than once… My rice fields have been grazed upon multiple times by herdsmen.” – Enugu-based farmer
ENUGU – As killings and violence escalate across Nigeria, Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Rt Rev Samuel Obiajulu Ike, has called on President Bola Tinubu to probe security and intelligence chiefs for alleged collusion with terrorists and bandits.
“The President should take decisive action where these officers are found negligent, complicit and guilty of these allegations,” Bishop Ike said at a press briefing ahead of the diocesan synod. He stressed that such actions have fueled insurgency and worsened Nigeria’s global terrorism rating.
Meanwhile, Enugu-based commercial farmer Ekene Uzodinma appealed for armed intervention, after repeated attacks by armed Fulani herdsmen.
“I have lost everything more than once… This is no longer about farmer-herder clashes. This is terrorism,” Uzodinma said.
He called for a security task force and a special investigative panel with prosecutorial powers. “The silence from authorities is deafening. If farmers continue to be hunted and slaughtered, Nigeria will face a food security disaster,” he warned.
