Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has defected from the PDP to the APC, joined by his entire cabinet in a major political shift.

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), ending the PDP’s decades-long dominance in the state.

In a televised address on Tuesday, Mbah said his decision followed deep reflection on the future of Enugu’s political and developmental direction. “Today, after a long reflection, we have made the decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress,” he announced.

Explaining his move, the governor stated, “Leadership sometimes demands painful decisions in the service of higher principles and goals. And there comes a time when everyone must make a bold choice to determine their destiny.”

The defection followed the mass movement of all members of Mbah’s cabinet to the APC on Monday. His Senior Media Aide, Dan Nwomeh, confirmed the switch in a video showing officials chanting support for President Bola Tinubu and declaring loyalty to the ruling party.
