“The NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador…”
The Federal Government has named Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo announced the move on Wednesday while outlining resolutions to recent airport misconduct cases. He said the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had reduced KWAM 1’s six-month flight ban to one month following appeals from well-meaning individuals and the artiste’s public apology over the August 5 incident at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
“The NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol,” Keyamo stated.
The NCAA will also withdraw its criminal complaint. KWAM 1 had denied carrying alcohol, insisting the flask in question contained water for medical purposes. Keyamo said the clemency was granted on “compassionate grounds” but warned that safety rules would be strictly enforced.
