Ojora warns traditional leaders against unauthorized political involvement

The Ojora of Lagos, Oba Oyegbemi Kabiyesi, has dethroned six traditional chiefs for attending a Labour Party campaign flag-off in Apapa without royal approval.

During a palace gathering on June 30, the monarch declared that their participation in the political event was a breach of traditional protocol and disrespectful to the palace. The affected chiefs are Chief Lateef Ojora (Bale Alaba Oro), Chief Saliu Biliamin (Bale Alafia Dodoro), Chief Taiwo Hassan (Bale Oke Ira), Chief Idris Oladipupo Ojora (Bale Abule Kere), Chief Hakeem Oseni (Bale Mosafejo Amukoko), and Chief Sule Raji Balogun (Balogun of Abule Kere).

The Ojora stated: “No Chief should make decisions or act on his behalf without his explicit consent. They all serve to represent him and uphold the traditions of the land.”

He reaffirmed his support for ongoing government projects in the Ojora domain and emphasized the need for loyalty and discipline within the traditional leadership structure.
